Welcome to SewingSociety.com!

I’m Cara, and I love to sew!

My grandma gave me a sewing machine when I was a teenager, and I was immediately hooked. Now I sew everything from home décor items to outfits for my two adorable boys.

Sewing started out as a hobby for me, but it has become much more than that… It’s now truly a passion! I want to help others learn how to sew, too.

On this blog, I write about sewing tips and tricks, patterns I’ve tried, and everything else related to sewing. I’m currently creating a complete sewing course for beginners, so keep an eye out for that!

I’ve also written a sewing machine troubleshooting book! You can get a copy on Amazon here: Sewing Machine Problems and How to Solve Them.

Interview Questions with Cara

1. What made you start sewing?

I watched my mom and grandma sew all sorts of things — pajamas, quilts, dresses, you name it. When my grandma gave me my first sewing machine, I was immediately hooked. I started sewing because it was something fun I could do with my mom and grandma. It gave us something to bond over.

2. What was your first ever sewing project?

I’m not sure I can pinpoint my first sewing project. It was so long ago. I know I was obsessed with sewing little drawstring bags in the beginning. I also remember making a fleece baby hat with a tassel on top. That project was special to me because I saved it for my son to wear 20 years later.

3. What is it that you like about sewing? What benefits do you get from sewing?

I love sewing. I could go on and on about the benefits. I think sewing is amazing because you can make unique pieces of clothing that are tailored to fit your body perfectly. That’s not something you can get from a retail store. Creating stuff gives me a rush of adrenaline, which keeps me busy and happy.
