IndieStitch is a monthly sewing kit that you can get in the mail each month. It includes a sewing pattern for a women’s garment, fabric, and all the notions you need to complete a sewing project. I wrote an IndieStitch review last month, but I wanted to write a follow-up review since I received a second box in the mail this month!
I’ve been super impressed with IndieStitch…
The fabric has been amazing! This month I received a lightweight knit that is super soft and perfect for summer. The pattern was the Catalina Dress from Blank Slate Patterns.
Here’s a list of everything that came in my IndieStitch Box:
- Dress pattern (Both a printed AO copy and a download code)
- 4 yards of sage-green knit fabric
- Spool of matching thread
- ½ inch elastic
- Bias tape
- 2 sewing machine needles
- Link to a Sew Along
- BONUS: Ruler grippers and a pin cushion!
I think it’s fun that IndieStitch always throws in some bonus sewing tools or goodies. It’s also great that they go above and beyond to make sure you have the resources you need to sew your garment, such as sew alongs and a private Facebook group where you can ask questions.
IndieStitch Pattern and Fabric Choices
Personally, I’m not a major fan of dresses. I typically only wear them for church, and I prefer a skirt and blouse combo, if I get the choice. So, I was skeptical when I saw the dress pattern that was included in IndieStitch this month.
I cut out the bodice portion and quickly decided it was not for me, so I used the remaining fabric to sew up one of my favorite blouse patterns. That’s the beauty of sewing subscription boxes — you get to try new patterns, but you still have the freedom to do whatever you want if the pattern you receive is not your style.
I really loved the fabric that was included in my IndieStitch box. It was a light, sage green color with a small, white print. You don’t get to choose your pattern, but you do get to choose your fabric! That way you know you’ll always get something that you like. Plus, you get a lot of fabric… There were 4 yards this month!
I’ve tried many different sewing subscription boxes, but IndieStitch has become a front runner because of the value. You get a lot for the money, and the sewing community is SUPER helpful.
If you want to give IndieStitch a try, you can get a 10% discount with the code: SOCIETY10. I also noticed that IndieStitch is running a promotion where you can get your first box for FREE! Why not give it a try?
