I tried IndieStitch for the first time this month, and WOWSA… I was impressed!

About a month ago, I contacted the owner of IndieStitch to see if she could give my readers a discount… I wanted to include it in my post: The Ultimate List of Sewing Subscription Boxes. She agreed (details below), but she also sent me an IndieStitch box to try for myself. Thanks so much, Amber!

I completed the sewing project in my box this weekend and decided to write an IndieStitch review for you. I did receive my box for free, but this post is my honest review — I never promote products or services that I have not personally tried.

What Is IndieStitch?

IndieStitch is a sewing subscription box where you get fabric, a pattern, and all the notions you need to sew a women’s garment each month. Each IndieStitch box also includes bonus sewing tools and goodies for you to try. The box is meant for people with beginner to intermediate sewing skills, but you don’t need to worry if you’re more on the beginner side because all the patterns come with detailed, picture instructions, and IndieStitch hosts sew alongs in their private sewing community.

If you want to improve your sewing skills and build your handmade wardrobe at the same time, give IndieStitch a try! It takes all the guesswork out of choosing a sewing pattern and then gathering all the fabric and notions you need. Plus, you’ll get to discover sewing tools you never knew you needed and make friends in the sewing community.

I honestly think IndieStitch is great. I have tried several other sewing subscription boxes, and Amber goes the extra mile to make sure all her subscribers have a good experience and the information they need to successfully complete their garment sewing projects.

What Comes in the IndieStitch Box?

I received the IndieStitch box that went out in February 2022. It featured a skirt pattern with pockets. You can check out my IndieStitch unboxing post, but here is a list of everything that came in my box:

  • A printed copy of the Donovan Skirt Pattern from Helen’s Closet Patterns, as well as a coupon code to get the digital version for free.
  • 2.5 yards of woven fabric. I got some lovely blue and ivory stripe chambray, but it’s my understanding that you get to choose between a few different color options each month.
  • A spool of coordinating thread.
  • Two sewing machine needles, so you can start fresh and have a replacement just in case.
  • Some wide elastic for the waistband.
  • A strip of interfacing to reinforce the drawstring hole opening, if you choose to sew that version.
  • A curved ruler.
  • Some bright-orange sewing snips that were a fun bonus.
  • A laundry soap sample from Soak.
  • And, a sewing machine sticker that I put on my sewing tool box!

As you can see, that’s a lot of stuff!

Previous IndieStitch boxes have included patterns for joggers, cardigans, jumpers, and more. You can expect to get a good variety of styles. Plus, IndieStitch makes sure that all the patterns they choose are size inclusive, whether you are an XS or XXXL!

I love the pattern! I have never tried Helen’s Closet Patterns before, but the instructions were very good. The hardest part was figuring out how to fold the fabric just right to create the pockets. Some people reported that the pockets bubbled out if they wore the skirt too low, but I didn’t find that to be the case.

I was very happy with how my first IndieStitch sewing project turned out. I will be subscribing!

Is IndieStitch Worth the Money?

Overall, I was impressed with IndieStitch. I received 2.5 yards of fabric, a nice skirt pattern, all the notions I needed, and a few bonus sewing tools! It was a lot of fun, and I feel like you get good value for your money.

Without any discounts, IndieStitch costs $69.95 per month (As of March 2022). There is also a shipping charge of $9 per box. Compared to other sewing subscription boxes, this is a good price!

However, if you’re willing to give the 6-month or 12-month subscription a try, IndieStitch has agreed to give my readers a 50% discount on their first box! That’s an additional savings of $31.98! Simply use the code: SOCIETY50 at checkout to get the discount.

I hope you’ll give it a try! My honest IndieStitch review is that it is worth the money and a lot of fun!
