Nice sewing machines are EXPENSIVE! Did you know that some high-end machines can cost over $15,000?!?! I don’t know about you, but that’s not something I can afford…
The sewing machine I use right now is the Bernette b79. It was the best machine I could afford at the time — I spent around $2,000 on it and I am very happy… Still, I can’t help but dream of the high-end sewing machines on the market.
If you were to ask me today, “What sewing machine would you buy if money were no object?” I know I would turn to Bernina. I think it is the best sewing machine brand. And, if money were no object for me, I’d get the Bernina 880 PLUS Crystal Edition!
The Bernina 880 PLUS Crystal Edition
The Bernina 880 Plus Crystal Edition is truly a dream machine. It is adorned with real Swarovski Crystals, and it is simply exquisite!
Here’s a screenshot from the Bernina website so you can see for yourself:
Beyond its glamourous style, the Bernina 880 PLUS offers 12 inches of space to the right of the needle so you can work on huge projects with ease. It also has a 7” display and embroidery features with a 15.7”x10.2” embroidery area.
Here are some other features on the Bernina 880 Plus that you’ll find impressive:
- 300+ built-in embroidery designs and stitches
- Stitch regulator
- Extended freearm
- Jumbo bobbins so you don’t have to fill them as often
- A built-in, dual-feed foot (also know as a walking foot)
- Automatic needle threading and thread cutting
- Advanced, precision embroidery module with pinpoint placement
- Tons of programmable features for starting and stopping
Tips on Buying a Sewing Machine
You can buy a sewing machine for under $300 that will do everything you need it to do. The high-end machines just make your life easier because of all the automations.
If you’re looking for a good deal on sewing machines, check out SewingMachinesPlus.com. They sometimes discount their sewing machines by as much as 70% when they need to get rid of inventory. You can get a really nice sewing machine at a fraction of the price you’d pay at other retailers.
If you’re looking to buy a high-end sewing machine, consider going to a sewing machine dealer first to try out a few models in person. Then, be sure to do some price comparisons online before paying a premium at these stores.
As I already mentioned, if money were no object for me, I would buy the Bernina 880 PLUS Crystal Edition. Of course, that will probably never be a reality for me. I am quite happy with the Bernette b79 and I don’t actually need any other features.
After doing tons of research, here are my top sewing machine picks:

I have a Bernina 215 computer sewing machine. I love . It seems better than any other machine I have bought. Still have my older Singer and a pfaff.serger. But can understand any of us dreaming of the sewing machine with all the bells and whistles. But my budget cannot allow. But I’m very satisfied with what I have.Cece
I have a 1941 Free – Westinghouse Grasshopper! I had to restore it but I am having a little problem with the settings? It starts to sew but it is having a bit of a problem, for some reason and I am not sure why but
it for some reason it well not keep sewing!
I have the Bernina B780 machine and yes I paid good money for it but I love it, I am truly a Bernina girl.
