Product Features

  • Touch Screen Display: The large 3.2” LCD touch screen allows you to select embroidery designs and resize them to your needs. You can also preview your designs in full color.
  • 4”x4” Embroidery Field: The 4”x4” embroidery area is the most common size on entry-level embroidery machines. However, the Brother SE600 makes it easy to align designs when rehooping.
  • 80 Built-In Embroidery Designs: Several seasonal, floral, and kids designs come preprogrammed on this machine. You can adjust the size, rotate, or mirror image these designs with the touch of a button.
  • USB Port to Import Embroidery Designs: You’re not limited to the designs that come preprogrammed on this machine; you can download thousands more and import them with a USB drive.
  • 103 Built-In Sewing Stitches: This machine has the standard zig-zag stitches, as well as several more decorative options. There is also an automatic buttonhole stitch.
  • 6 Monogramming Fonts: You can easily adjust the size and arrangement of the letters with the press of a button. If you need additional fonts, you can always download more.
  • Free-Motion Sewing Support: You can drop the feed dogs on this machine and perform free-motion sewing. This means you can “draw” your own designs with thread.
  • Automatic Needle Threader: You’ll never waste time trying to thread the eye of your sewing machine needle again because this machine has an automatic needle threader. You simply pull the thread through the guides on your machine and then pull down a lever to thread the needle.
  • Drop-In Bobbin: You don’t have to remove the bobbin case to put the bobbin into this machine. You simply drop it into the jam-resistant bobbin system. A bonus is that the clear bobbin cover lets you easily see when you’re running low on thread.

What’s In the Box?

Pros and Cons of the Brother SE600

The Brother SE600 is the best embroidery machine for beginners. Check out the pros and cons below.

Pros

  • The Price: Embroidery machines can easily cost thousands, but the Brother SE600 doesn’t come close to that price. It’s an affordable embroidery machine that performs as well as the more expensive brands.
  • Ease of Use: You won’t need to attend several classes or watch dozens of videos to learn how to use this machine. The Touchscreen display is easy to use and walks you through the process for embroidery.
  • Performance: Brother continually improves its products to outperform the competition. The Brother SE600 is the upgraded version of the late SE400 model.
  • 25-Year Limited Warranty: If anything goes wrong with your machine, Brother will make it right.
  • Online and Phone Support: All Brother products com with free online and phone support. If you have any questions, visit www.brother.com or call 1-877-BROTHER.
  • USB Port: You don’t have to have your machine right next to your computer to import embroidery designs with a cord. You can simply put them on a USB drive and plug that into the SE600 to transfer your designs.

Cons

  • Embroidery Field Size: This machine can only embroider a design as big as 4”x4”. This is enough for most projects, but a larger embroidery area would come in handy for t-shirts, bags, and anything where you want to embroider a large design. If you can afford to spend more, go with the Brother SE1900. It is a step up from this machine and can embroider 5”x7” designs.
  • Available Languages: This machine only comes with instructions in English and Spanish.
  • Broken Needles on High Speed: This machine is fast, but you may need to slow down if you’re stitching through thick fabric to avoid breaking your needle.

I love the Brother SE600 Sewing and Embroidery Machine combo. It’s affordable, versatile, and perfect for beginners or people looking for an entry-level embroidery machine. The Brother SE1900 is the next model up. Singer makes some similar sewing/embroidery machine combos, but I prefer Brother for its ease of use. I also think it gives you the most bang for your buck.
