I’ve reviewed several sewing subscription boxes on this website, but I have a new one to share with you today. My first Sew What Box came in the mail this week. I received the box for free, but I wanted to share my honest review with you.

Sew What Box is a sewing subscription box for beginners.

Every month you get a simple project delivered to your door. Each project has a link to video instructions so you can learn how to sew and build your skills each month. It’s great for adults who want to pick up a new skill, but I really think Sew What Box would be amazing for a child who wants to learn how to sew. There is even a homeschool/co-op subscription option!

I’m serious, the projects are SUPER easy. The project I received in December’s box was a felt gift bag. It only requires straight-line sewing, and you don’t have to worry about finishing the seams because felt does not fray. It doesn’t get any more beginner-friendly than that.

Right now, you can get a FREE BOX when you subscribe to select plans, so it’s a great time to get started. Why not give it a try for the new year?

What Comes in Sew What Box?

Sew What Box includes everything you need to complete your project — fabric, thread, instructions, and other tools. All you need is a sewing machine and an internet connection. I like how easy they make it to learn how to sew. The project in December’s box had precut fabric pieces which makes the project practically failproof.

Here’s a list of everything I got in December’s Sew What Box:

  • Precut fabric for two gift bags
  • Sewing pins
  • Instruction card
  • Cute, handmade gift tags
  • Gift tag stickers
  • 2 BONUS holiday-themed fat quarters

Sew What Box would make a great gift. In 2023, all of the boxes will have a color theme. In January, it will be blue.

If you want to learn how to sew, I recommend Sew What Box. It’s a great starting point no matter what age you are. I really like that they also have a Facebook community where you can ask questions if you get stuck.
