Have you ever had trouble finding the perfect sewing pattern? Sometimes it’s hard to find what you’re looking for if you rely on the big commercial sewing pattern companies, like Butterick and Vogue. Luckily, tons of indie pattern companies have popped up over the past few years. You can buy PDF sewing patterns from these pattern shops and print them out at home.

I love indie pattern companies. They give me so many options to sew! Plus, I find indie patterns easier to follow than the big commercial sewing patterns because a lot of them have picture and video instructions. If you’re learning to sew, I suggest you start with indie sewing patterns because they are so much easier.

I thought it would be fun to create a list of all the indie pattern companies I could find. I am totally overwhelmed by my list — it’s massive! BOOKMARK THIS PAGE SO YOU CAN FIND IT LATER. You’re going to want to browse through all of these indie pattern companies. Also, please subscribe to my blog!

List of Indie Pattern Companies

The following indie pattern companies are listed in alphabetical order. They all have at least 10 sewing patterns in their shop, but most have much, much more. I’ve put my personal favorites in bold.

PDF patterns are a little overwhelming if you’ve never used them before. You have to print out several pieces of paper and tape them together to create your pattern. It’s not hard, but it is time consuming, depending on what you’re trying to make. However, some people like to take their PDF sewing pattern file to a copy shop to get it printed on large A0 paper. I hope you give some of these indie pattern companies a try.

Did I leave any indie pattern companies off the list? Please let me know! You can either comment here or send an email to Admin@SewingSociety.com.

    1. Amelia Lane designs, so sew English, stay n stitch are a few of my all time favorites . They should make this list a little more user friendly 😉

  1. I like George and Ginger. Their size range is good for plus size folks and patterns generally come with a couple of different views.

  2. I like Sewillow patterns, the jumpsuits patterns are easy to make and I’ve made multiple versions of each.
